Luke 18:1-8 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Another thing that hinders prayer today is that few people want to be alone for any length of time. Prayer used to be called a “Quite time”. Jesus was often apart and alone in prayer. (Matt 14:23
And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.) Today the TV has to be on, the radio, the CD, the DVD, something always has to be making noise. Many have to have something on as they fall asleep and no one wants to just be still, just be quiet, just be alone. Prayer needs to be a time between the believer and God alone, a time of quiet with the world shut out. Even if you are playing good Christian music it still is something that can take your thoughts away from prayer. The noise of this world is something that can hinder prayer. Do you take that time to just sit quiet before God, to shut the world out and allow God in? The noise of the world can hinder God speaking to you and you speaking to God.
