Matt 19:13-15 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

We start our VBS this morning at Cherry Corner Bible Church and I ask for your prayers as this important ministry begins. Children so much the more need the Lord today, they of course always have as we all do, but so much the more as we see the day approaching. Looking back through old VBS records I find that in 2003 we averaged 95 students for the week. Last year it was 40 students. The numbers of helpers including teachers and those in the kitchen is about the same. So what had happened? Has the church gotten smaller? Do we no longer invite people out? Did we stop handing out flyers door to door? Did we stop putting an announcement in the local paper? Did we stop including the 2 & 3 years olds and teens? The answer to all of those questions is no. So what has happened? For the most part people are no longer interested in the things of the Lord for their family, for their children and grandchildren. In the day when the world is darkest they have no thought or desire to give them the light of the gospel, the light of the world, no desire to bring them to Jesus. People today are setting their children up to suffer. Pray for us today and throughut the week between the hours of 9:00Am and neen. Those that will be with us need to meet Jesus, need to be introduced to Him, need to repent of sin and receive Him into their heart so they will be ready to meet Him in the air.
