1 Tim 1:1-4 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; 2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

We know that Satan will let no work of God go unchallenged. From the very beginning in the Garden of Eden Satan worked against the plan and purpose of God and still does today. Here in 1 Timothy we find the Apostle Paul addressing a young pastor and the first thing Paul must do is warn about false doctrine being taught in the church. My mind must ask where such doctrine came from? They had the words of Jesus Himself, they had the Apostles, and now they had the Bible being given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Where could false doctrine come from? It had to come from the minds of men being influenced by Satan and for the people to receive it they had to give more weight to men than Christ, more weight to the words of men than the Bible. Nothing has changed today as people still give more weight to the words of men than they do the Bible. When seeking the answers to questions they turn from the clear truth of the Bible to the writings of scholars. Now we have a church filled with fables that give rise to more questions than they answer. What we need to do is get back to the clear truth of the Word of God and when something seems hard to understand continue to seek the answer in the Bible and not in the words of men.
