Elijah prayed and the rain stopped for three years, there was not even dew on the ground in the morning. Then he prayed again and the heaven gave rain. The idea is not that Elijah prayed, God answered, and then he prayed again three years later. Elijah was a man of prayer, he prayed daily, he prayed often, he did what righteous men do, he prayed. So often today when men pray and God answers in the way that we want, I fear we respond not with more prayer but with less, that we do not continue in prayer, but we stop praying. No wonder Jesus asked if there would be faith in the earth at His return. People of faith need to pray, must pray, but don’t pray. God answered Elijah because he was a man of prayer.
