April 25th, 2013 by Pastor SolleyJude 1-3 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: 2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
The Bible tells us that we need to earnestly contend for the faith. (Verse 3) What it is that we need fight for and others oppose? The faith once delivered to the saints is the gospel message and those who oppose it are the servants of Satan. The gospel is worth fighting for my friend as it is still what the world needs today and still has the power to save souls today. On Tuesday night visitation we had the joy of seeing one come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. The gospel still has the power to save souls today. I am amazed at how the Spirit of God begins to work in the heart of the lost and to see that one of their own free will turn to Jesus Christ. One was freed from the power of sin, given victory over death, saved from hell by the gospel. That is something worth fighting for, something to contend for. Yet there are many who stand opposed to the gospel and many of them are identified in the bible. In Jude we see some of those identified and we will take a closer look at them tomorrow.
