2 Cor 4:1-6 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

The gospel preached by Paul begins and ends with Jesus Christ and His shed blood on the cross. But who needs that sacrifice, who needs His salvation? The lost according to our text, but who are the lost? The Bible makes that very clear. Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Rom 3:10-12 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

The word “All” in the Bible is a very telling word, it means all, and it always means all. When the Bible speaks of sin it clearly states that “All have sinned” and that is exactly what it means. Every man and woman ever born in to this world or who will be born in to this world is born with a sin nature, a nature apart from God, and is in need of God’s salvation provided by Jesus Christ. The sin nature of man is seen all around us and was on display in Boston yesterday. Man is a sinner, not some, all men, all women, young and old, we are born into sin and in need of salvation. No man can take the “All” out of the Bible and when some try and do so they are dishonest, they handle the Word of God deceitfully. That is what God says. Reader, you need God’s salvation, you need Jesus Christ. I stood at the bedside of one yesterday about to leave this world and the reason they are going to die is because of sin. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The reason I will die one day is sin. Yet we need not fear death when we have Jesus Christ. When man repents of sin and turns to Christ, call out to Jesus for salvation and forgiveness of sin, there is no fear of death. Who needs God’s salvation? All do.
