March 20th, 2013 by Pastor SolleyPs 107:23-30 They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;
24 These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep. 25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. 26 They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. 27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end. 28 Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. 29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. 30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
Those that work on or around the sea know the power of a storm. Several years ago while on vacation I was able to see the power of a storm on the sea. We were staying on the Gulf of Mexico and there were nine tornados that formed on the Gulf and then came ashore right where we were staying. It was in the night, there was no place to go, we had to stay in the house where we were, right on the beach, and ride out the storms. I will never forget the sound of the waves, the sound of the wind, how the house swayed back and forth, it was a frightening experience. The only thing we could do was pray. Pray that the Lord would keep us safe, pray that the storm would pass over, pray, pray, and pray! We see the same thing in the Psalm above, men around the sea see the works of the Lord. Even those who do not know Him see the works of the Lord. In the midst of your storm today, pray, pray, pray!
