March 14th, 2013 by Pastor Solley1 Peter 1:13-16 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Man will go to the greatest of lengths to justify his actions in his own mind. Seldom will I ever talk to anyone in sin and needing help who thinks they have done anything wrong. I have talked with people in jail for DUI and they have told me that alcohol is not the problem, the police were picking on them. I have talked to people who have broken their wedding vows who have told be it was not their fault, their spouse does not understand them. It seems man is able to justify any acting in his or her own mind. That is why the Christian needs to gird up their mind, not to think like the world, justify sin as the world does, not be given to the former ignorance. The first step in following God’s command to be holy begins in the mind. Our minds need to be given over to the things of God day and night. When we make a decision to do that we take the first step in a walk of holiness.
