March 7th, 2013 by Pastor SolleyJohn 17:1-5 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
Do you ever stop and think about what the Lord Jesus Christ gave up to save you? Even before the cross, do you ever think of what the Lord Jesus Christ gave up to save you? Verse 5 should give one something to think about. The Bible clearly tells us that the Father and the Son are one. (John 1:1-3) Jesus, the Son, one with and equal with the Father, has been before all things, created all things, was praised by all of the heavenly beings and seated in honor and glory. Heaven was, is, always has been His. That special order of angels standing around Him calling out without stopping, “Holy, holy, holy”, other angels waiting a command to follow, always light, no darkness, no sorrow, no sin, Jesus in eternity past seated in heaven. Jesus had all the power, all the glory, all the honor, all before the world ever was. Today as you go about your day stop and give a moment to think of what Jesus gave up to save you.
