Psalm 13 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? 2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? 3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; 4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. 6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Does it ever seem that answers to prayer are delayed in your life? Take heart Christian for you are not alone. David, that man after God’s own heart went through such times. “How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord?” Does it not show us that David had answer to prayer delayed? Daniel waited three full weeks in prayer for God to answer, many have waited longer, Paul prayed his entire life for the conversion of Israel. Don’t think it a strange thing if answer to prayer seems to be delayed in your life. But what to do in these times when it seems there is no answer? Pray more, pray more, pray more. Does not the Bible command us to pray “Without ceasing”? Are we not told that “Men ought always to pray”? I would not begin to tell you why answers at times are delayed, that is in the hands of God, but I can tell you such times are not uncommon. Notice in our text today that David continued in prayer, take note that he continued to trust in His God, notice that he continued to give thanks to His God and praise Him for His wonderful works. David did this while waiting for God to answer prayer.
