And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.
It must have been something to hear the Lord Jesus Christ preach. The people in Luke 5 “Pressed upon Him”, not to see a miracle, not to have a loved one healed, but to hear Him preach the Word. That does not take place all that often today, people pressing the preacher to hear the Word of God. It seems today that as professing Christians go to church the last thing they want is to hear the Word. They want to be seen by others, want to be entertained by the bad on the stage , listen to the latest in CCM, but they do not want the preaching of the Word. As the people pressed upon Jesus to hear the Word of God they were moved by the Word of God and then witnessed the power of the Word of God. People will claim there is no moving and no power today in the church, but that is because so few want the preaching of the Word. What the church needs in our day is a few who press to hear the Word.
