Daily Devotions

1 Thess 4:13-18 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

We conclude our week of “Sleep” with the best sleep of all, sleep in Jesus. I don’t necessarily mean death. What a blessing it is to walk with Jesus, to abide in Jesus, to be awake with Jesus, to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. And what a wonderful thing it is to lay down each night with Jesus, to sleep with Jesus, in Jesus, knowing that tomorrow will hold another day in which we can walk with him. What a blessing it is to lay down and have the sweet peace of God knowing that we sleep with Jesus. Then of course what and how much greater it will be when we are with Him, when we do sleep with Him after our life on earth is done. The older one gets the more one looks for that day when we will be with Jesus, when we sleep in Him. Now I am not wanting to die today, but I am ready and if it should happen how much better off I would be. I pray it is the same with all who read these devotions each day, that you are ready to sleep in Jesus.
