February 21st, 2013 by Pastor Solley1 Thess 5:5-7 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
It is possible to sleep with eyes wide open, walking about, living in this world. This type of sleep is very dangerous and one that is practiced by many Christians, or at least professing Christians today. This type of sleep allows things to creep up on your, allows things to overtake you, allows things to go unnoticed in a person’s life. Things that destroy a testimony and take one away from the Lord. Years ago no one would have imagined what would take place in the entertainment industry. TV, movies, and the such were harmless entertainment, but look at what they have turned into today. Christians have become so used to these things that they no longer bother them, not the taking of the name of the Lord in vain, not the mocking of Christianity, not the X and R rated things one commonly allows into their home. Years ago who could have imagined that our nation would now be promoting the homosexual agenda the way that it is? But now state after state are passing laws that promote that abomination and mock the Bible and what God says about that sin. Christians then who have been asleep wonder what the fuss is all about. Polls show that more and more professing Christians think there is nothing wrong with sodomy. They are a part of a church that has been asleep. We need to be awake today, we need to be watchful, we need to be sober in this day and age. If not we will be overtaken just like a drunkard in the night.
