Have you ever noticed how many times God pleads with Israel in the Old Testament to return to Him? Time after time after time God pleads with His people, time after time after time God calls for them to turn from iniquity and come unto Him, over and over again we see this. We marvel at the love of God for Israel and God’s longsuffering nature. Yet we know that God’s love and longsuffering could not hold back His judgment forever and now Israel has been set aside for a time. God deals with man, with nations, and with Christians in the same fashion today. I often marvel at how man mocks God, shakes his fist at God, even dares God to judge him, and when God does they mock Him even more. Just look at our nation and how every fabric of society shuns God, and then how they blame God when tragedy strikes. And yet don’t we often act the very same way as Christians, living our lives on our terms, not giving God the time or devotions that He expects and demands from His children, and when trouble comes we blame God and claim we can’t understand why God allowed this or that to happen. Like Israel we need to turn to the Lord, we need to listen to His call, we need to walk with Him. The sad thing about Israel is that they still have not turned. But what about us, will we listen to His voice, listen to His pleading, and turn and walk with Him today?
