Matt 4:11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Does it seem like the devil never leaves you alone? I know for this man that is true, he never seems to leave me alone. Yet we find that the devil left Jesus alone, at least for a time. We can learn from Jesus what it took to get the devil to leave Him alone. First, Jesus was going through a time of deep devotion to God the Father in prayer and fasting. We know that Satan does make every effort to hinder us in prayer, but was we go deeper and deeper into prayer, as we move closer and closer to God, that is a place Satan does not want to be. Second, we see in the context of Matthew 4 the relationship between Jesus and the Word of God. Jesus used the Bible to fight off Satan. We also need to know the Bible for it is the one thing in this world that Satan has no answer for, the true Word of God. That is why the devil has moved man to change the Word of God. We need then to know the true Word found in our King James Bible. Third, Jesus went to work preaching the Word of God. Yes Satan does try and hinder the preacher, but preaching the Word, a closeness with the Father, and knowing the Scriptures will drive away the enemy.
