Jer 6:15-17 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord. 16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

The “Old Paths” were times when people. Even Christians, understood that God was watching over them and cared about that truth. I don’t mean God watching over them to protect and provide for them, but God watching over them in the sense that God knew what they were doing, where they were going, and knew the heart of man. That has not changed, Heb 4:12-13 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do., God still knows all of those things. But man today, the Christian today chooses to live as if God doesn’t care what they are doing or why. The same question could be asked today that is asked in verse 15 of our text passage. No people are not ashamed today, the Christian is not ashamed today of sin. And then we wonder why things go wrong in this world, why things go wrong in our lives. God is still watching all that we do. The old path is a path in which the Christian cared more of what God thought than man thinks. We need the old path.
