Matt 24:43-44 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Are you ready for Christmas? We know when Christmas is, December 25th, every year we know when Christmas is, and still many are not ready for that day. Let me ask this morning if you are ready for the return of Jesus, if you are ready to meet Jesus today.
Yesterday I talked to a man who told me he had a “Get out of hell free card”. His grandmother had purchased an “Indenture” from the Roman Catholic Church, it was signed by a certain Cardinal, had been handed down to his mother and now it was his. All that he needed to do was “Ask forgiveness at that final moment” all sins would then be abolished and he would enter heaven on the Indenture. I asked him when the final moment would be and of course he could not answer that question. Then I asked him, “Are you sure that is going to work for you?” Again, he could not answer. Then I brought up the name of Jesus, that name above every name, and I told him that what he did with Jesus Christ would determine his place in eternity. From that point on he would not talk to me about his Indenture, about sin, about heaven or hell, he wanted nothing to do with Jesus Christ. That man is not ready, are you? We spend much time getting ready for Christmas and we know when it is coming, we know when it will be. Why then do so many spend so little time getting ready for eternity?
