December 10th, 2012 by Pastor Solley2 Cor 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
Our subject this morning is the word “Unspeakable”. That word is found just three times in the Bible, in our text for today, in 2 Cor 12:4 where it speaks of Paul being caught up to heaven and hearing “Unspeakable words”, and in 1 Peter 1:8 where we find the “Unspeakable joy” of the believer whose life is centered in Jesus Christ. I want to consider for a few days as the Lord leads God’s “Unspeakable gift”, the Lord Jesus Christ.
It is unspeakable that God would love so much, love the world so much, that He would send His only begotten Son into this world. (John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.) Try to find words this morning if you can to express the depths of God’s love for a lost and dying world, for sinful man, that would move Him, move Almighty God, to send the Lord Jesus Christ into this world. Try to find words this morning to express the depths of God’s love that would send His only begotten Son to the cross where He would shed His blood for all, for all, for all of mankind. Try to find words to express the depths of God’s love, mercy, and grace, that would invite whosoever to believe upon Jesus, to place their faith and trust in Christ for forgiveness of sin and eternal life. To this preacher the words are “Unspeakable”, the words do not exist that express the depths of the love of God for each and everyone of us. We can, we should, we need to give thanks today for His unspeakable gift. 2 Cor 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
