Matt 1:20-23 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Who are His people, who did Jesus come to save. We noted yesterday who needs salvation, all people do. The Bible then tells us that Jesus came to save His people; who are His people? Jesus was born of a virgin and she was of the house of David, so then are those of the house of David His people? Jesus was born a Jew, so then are the Jewish people His people? Jesus was born under the Law of Moses, so then are those born under that Law His people? Who are the people that Jesus came to save? We need to go back to the origin of sin and the need of salvation to discover who the people of God are. When Adam sinned in the garden that sin nature and the consequences of that sin passed then to all men, to all people. (Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned) It was then that God promised to send a redeemer, one to pay the price for the sin of man. This was before the Jewish race, before the Law, before the house of David, before all that God promised to send a savior, a redeemer for fallen man. As you then search out the promises of salvation and a savior through the Bible you discover that Jesus died for all, that all people can be His people through faith in His shed blood. Today my friend you can be one of God’s people through Jesus Christ, Jesus came to save you. You can be a child of God.
(John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.) Today you can become one of His people, he came to save you.
