1 Sam 3:1-4 And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision. 2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see; 3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep; 4 That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.

Many look at our nation as being in its darkest hours and that may very well be true. An election that sees the nation give approval to a government that is against God and His Word, vote in sodomite marriage, and make dope a legal activity is a nation plunging into darkness. We could draw a parallel between Israel in the days of Samuel and our nation today, the lamp of is about to go out. But take heart Christian for the darkest hour of America can give us the opportunity to shine brightly for Jesus Christ. Samuel stood out and stood up for God in such an hour in Israel, and we can stand out and stand up for our Lord today. God is impressing upon my heart not an attitude of doom but an attitude of service. Things are going to get worse for the United States, but even as they do it will give the Christian an opportunity to point others to Jesus Christ. I can smile as a believer in Christ today, I can take joy in Christ today, I can have peace in Jesus Christ today and so can you as a Christian. May that lead those lost in sin to ask us of the peace within. What is a dark hour can be our brightest hour as well.
