Ecc 4:9-12 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. 10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. 11 Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? 12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

What a blessing to have good friends. The Bible speaks here of a friend, one who stands with you, will lift you up when you fall, one who is a help, one who provides warmth and strength. What a blessing it is to have good friends in the Lord. We have a friend in our home as a guest and it is good to stop and remember what a blessing it is to have a friend and to be a friend. Of course the best friend we can have is Jesus Christ. Not verse 12 of our reading this morning. “A threefold cord is not quickly broken”. As I read this verse I think of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. That is a friendship that we need. Are you the friend of God this morning? Can God depend upon you, do you spend time with the Lord each day, do you serve Him, do you love Him today? Can God count you as His friend? What a blessing to have a true friend. We will study friends this coming week, the Lord willing to see what makes a friend. Today begin to count those whom you can call a true friend.
