The above verses give us the first time the words holy and happy are used in the Bible. The word “Holy” is found 611 times in the Bible while the word “Happy” is found 28 times. This is something one often hears today from professing Christians; “Doesn’t God want me to be happy”? God does want us to be happy but would you say that God is more concerned with our holiness or happiness? By the space that these two words are given in the Bible I think it clear that God is more concerned with our holiness than our happiness. Then if you study these two words and how they are used in the Bible you find that the happiness of the Christian is directly linked to the holiness of the Christian. In other words, the more holy we become in Christ, the more happy we are in this world. I look into a lot of faces each week, from the pulpit as well as going about everyday, and the one thing that I see is that many if not most people are not happy. Christian if you want to be happy, and God does want you to be, then you must first be holy We need to follow the clear command of the Bible. 1 Peter 1:15-16 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. Holiness is the pathway to happiness.
