James 1:22-25 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

The mirror in the morning does not lie and neither does the mirror of the Word of God. Many times I will rise in the morning and look in the mirror and wonder who that is looking back. I know who I am, young, strong, handsome, ready for the day and the world. But the mirror says something else, older, graying, weak, ready for a nap. So what to do? Don’t look in the mirror, just remember what used to be and a better picture of myself in my mind. Many will treat the Bible in the same way. Look into the mirror of the Word of God and saved or lost, you don’t find a good picture of yourself. So what do most people do? Don’t look into the Word, just picture yourself as better than you really are. The problem is other people see you as you are, they don’t see what you want to see in the mirror, they see you. And God sees you as the way you really are. Just as the mirror doesn’t lie, so the Word of God shows us as we really are. Let us look into the Word and “Continue therein”. Walk in obedience to the Word, repent of sin, draw near to the Lord, let the mirror of His Word show and change us.
