1 Cor 1:26-30 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

The foolish things of the world have been chosen by God to confound the wise. (Verse 27) It is amazing to this simple man how those who are wise and mighty in the flesh are unable to grasp the simple truth of Scripture, how those who are wise and mighty in the flesh are unable to see what is going on around them. People today have more knowledge available to them than any other generation, are able to communicate even with people on the other side of the world in an instant, know immediately what is going on at any given place and at any given time. But even with all this knowledge man seems to be getting dumber and dumber. Take what is going on at Penn State University as an example. For over 10 years eyes were turned away from a evil and vile act that was going on, many in authority at that university ignored and even winked at what was taking place. Yet as this all came out all most people around State College seem to be concerning with is a statue and how much money may be lost because of what may or may not happen to the football program. We are close to State College and I have watched reports on the news of people lining up and waiting to get a picture taken by that statue. (I saw it myself in the fall when our church was handing out tracts in that area.) I listen as people protest that the statue was going to be removed. I listen to how hard this is on the university and how much revenue it may cost. But one thing I have not heard coming from the campus or university is a prayer for repentance and forgiveness from God. How is it that so many wise and educated people cannot see the evil act and protest that and cry out to God? They act like to miss a football game will ruin their lives while all the time forgetting about the lives already ruined. I for one am glad God has chosen the simple things.
