Matt 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

There are only two called the “Light of the world” in the Bible. One is found here in our text and the other is Jesus Christ. Jesus said in John 8:12 and 9:5 “I am the light of the world”. Think of the truth of this concerning Jesus Christ. He is the true light, the savior of the world. He came to bring light into darkness, to shine the light of His gospel on a dark and dying world. And Jesus Christ did that providing the way to heaven by His shed blood on the cross, shining this light so all could see and so all could be saved. Jesus in the true “Light of the world”. Think now of the implications of this truth to the believer in Christ. Jesus called us the light of the world. Jesus is now at the right hand of the Father in heaven, the world is without its light and left once again to darkness. Or is it? It isn’t as long as we remember we are the light of the world as Christians and let that light shine. Let is shine is the way we live our lives, the way we dress, the places we go, the things we do, and what we say about Jesus. The world so desperately needs light today, the darkness is deepening at a rapid pace, the world needs to see the light that is Jesus Christ. How is that possible? Through the born again believer in Christ. We have that light within and it needs to shine out. If you were the only light this world had, could they see enough to find Jesus Christ?
