May 24th, 2012 by Pastor Solley2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
What a wonderful truth we find here in Scripture. God is NOT willing that any perish, God wants ALL to come to repentance. This verse cannot be viewed or interpreted in any other way, the Bible says what it means and means what it says. The only way to interpret this verse in any other way than what it says is to deny the truth of the Word of God. That is exactly what many have done in the past and many are doing today. God did not choose to send some to heaven and many to hell. God would have all men come to a knowledge of the truth and to that end will draw all men unto Himself. That is what Jesus said. But God will not force any to obey His will, man has a choice to make in salvation, he has to believe and receive the Lord Jesus Christ. And God will not force you or me to follow His will after we are saved, we have the free will to decide to or not to obey. What it comes down to in the end is if we believe the Bible or not and if we believe the Bible are we willing to obey it?
