May 14th, 2012 by Pastor Solley2 Cor 4:1-4 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Why is it that so many hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and remain lost? Is it that God doesn’t want them, that they can’t be saved, can’t repent? That is not the reason my friend. Jesus Christ came and died for all, paid the price for all, would have all be saved.
1 Tim 2:3-4 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Even I can understand those verses. Jesus Himself said that He would draw “All men”. So why is it that so many will remain in darkness after they have heard the truth. The answer is in the text for today. Eyes and hearts have been blinded by the god of this world, by Satan. That is a terrible thing, to be blinded to truth, to have truth in front of you and not be able to see. Yet it is true of the Christian as well. How many did you witness to last week, how many did you invite out to church, how many tracts did you hand out? Are we not the “Light of the world”? Have we not been called to tell others of Christ? Is not the great commission for you and for me? If so, then why are we not doing more to bring the lost to Christ? Satan has a way of blinding people to an obvious need. We need to pray and ask the Lord to open our eyes to the need of the world. Only after we see that can the lost see the light that is in us.
