John 6:58-68 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. 60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? 61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? 62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. 65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. 66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

Many who believed in that day turned away, turned back because of the words of Jesus. (Verse 60)Jesus did not say what they wanted to hear, did not do what they expected, so they turned away. How many today turn away from the Bible says thinking it just too hard, too demanding on them? I know many as do you who profess to know Jesus as their savior but do not and have no intentions of walking with Him, of serving Him, of obeying the Word of God. For them the sayings are just too hard. But are they really? What if we decided that the rest of this week we were going to walk in obedience to the Word of God, we were going to please our Lord in all that we do, we were going to worship Him as we should and be in the house of God when the doors were open? What do you think would happen? Would life get hard, would things get worse, would we fall apart? Or would life get easier, would things get better, would we be made strong in Him? Which would you think would happen? Which will you decide to do, turn away, or walk with Him? After all He has “The words of eternal life”.
