Matt 4:11-16 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. 12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; 13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

The devil Left Him. (Verse 11) Why? Because Satan could get nowhere with Jesus. Satan did all that he could in tempting Jesus to sin and was not successful so Satan left Him. All through the Bible we have accounts of those whom Satan never left. It seems Satan was always after David, always plaguing Saul, always pulling Solomon away from the Lord. Why? Because Satan had success with them. But not so with Jesus. That Satan left Him does not mean Satan stopped working against Jesus, but in tempting Jesus to sin there was no use. What about us? Has Satan given up, has Satan left us? Or has he had so much success with you and me that he is always pulling us away from the Lord? I know we are not Jesus but we can stand against Satan using the same weapons that Jesus used and like Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit, through the power of His name, through the power of His blood, we can have victory over the devil. After a while you will find the devil leaving you alone as to certain areas of sin and temptation. But only after we gain the victory through Jesus Christ. Let us stand against Satan today, let us say no to him, let us stand in the power and might of the Lord Jesus Christ.
