Matthew 21:1-6
21:1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, 2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. 3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. 4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. 6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,

There have been many false prophets in the world going all the way back to the book of Genesis. As a result there arte many tests that one gives a prophet and a prophecy to make sure they are true and are from God. Among those tests is that a prophet can have nothing to do with his prophecy coming to pass. In other words if I make a prophecy about something taking place in June I can have nothing to do with it taking place. That test however does not apply to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. They was in which Jesus would enter Jerusalem to offer Himself as King of the Jews was told hundreds of years before in the Old Testament and Jesus Christ had everything to do with that taking place. He sent the disciples to get the animal, He went before them, He prepared the way, He is God and He had everything to do with it. What is my point this morning? Many think that Jesus was just a good man, a moral man, a religious leader who was murdered by a mob. He was just caught up in the events of the day. But that could not be any more wrong. Jesus was in complete control of all that happened in His life, from birth to death, Jesus was in complete control. The events that took Jesus Christ to the cross did not start on Palm Sunday, they started when man fell into sin and God’s redemptive plan was set in motion. Jesus was in complete control over what happened to Him and that includes every drop of blood that was shed in providing salvation for sinful man. Not on thing happened without Jesus in control. The eternal God who gave His Word also brought it to pass.
