14:1 After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. 2 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.
3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. 4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. 6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
Take note of the words of Jesus concerning this woman who anointed Him with the oil. What a blessed testimony concerning her, “She hath wrought a good work on me”. Has Jesus ever had occasion to say that about you? What did you do yesterday that caused Jesus to say that about you? After you completed your time in prayer could Jesus say that of you? After your time in the Word could Jesus say that about you? As you went through your day is this what Jesus said about you? We all have something we can do for the Lord today. It may be noting more than giving our heart to Jesus in prayer for those in need about us. To pray for the lost and have a burden to win them. It may be nothing more than keeping a good testimony for Christ and handing out a gospel tract. But whatever it is today that we can do for Jesus let us do it. Jesus would have went to the cross with or without this act by this woman. But she did what she could and the Lord was pleased. Is God pleased with what you did for Him yesterday? Will He be pleased today?
