67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
Rev 12:11
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
The above verses are the first and last mention of the word “Love” found in the Bible. On this Valentines Day I thought it good to consider them. The first mention has to do with a love between husband and wife, Isaac for Rebekah. The last mention the lack of love of man for self. Reading Revelation 12 you find that those ones loved Jesus more than they loved self and during the tribulation period that will cost one their life. I want you to consider how rare these types of love are today. How few husbands and wives love one another today. That is not a question, it is a fact. Very few have the type of love that the Bible states should be between husband and wife. It is because so few marriages are built upon the foundation of Jesus Christ. That is why the home is in the condition that it is. And how few people love anyone, anything more than they love themselves today. This is a selfish world built upon selfish desires. Very few love NOT themselves above all. On this Valentines Day take a look at yourself in the mirror of the Word of God. Do you love Jesus more than self? And are you the type of husband or wife that is could be said they love their spouse? Not only do they say it, but they live it.
