And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat. 16 This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents. 17 And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less. 18 And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating. 19 And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. 20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
The manna fell on the camp of Israel as a blessing and provision of God for the people of Israel. It provided them food for 40 years on their way to the Promised Land. One thing we find is that they were to gather it new every morning. They were not to live on yesterdays blessings or provision. I wonder how many Christians do that today. We believe God will bless, provide, protect, direct, every day. Yet many live on yesterdays blessings. They have a testimony of being saved years ago but nothing to show for yesterday as far as being blessed of the Lord. They have a testimony of doing something for the Lord years ago but nothing to show for yesterday. Not only that they have no plans for today or tomorrow as far as service for the Lord is concerned. Too many in the church today are living on yesterdays manna so to speak. And it has caused a stink to fall on the church. It is a weak and seemingly powerless church that is seen in the world today. No wonder when you consider how many Christians are living on yesterdays blessings.
