Daily Devotions
December 29th, 2011 by Pastor Solleyor of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
Paul was a determined man, a determined Christian, a determined servant of the Lord. We could say that Paul was resolved in what he wanted to do for the Lord and resolved in following what the Lord wanted from him. This is another resolution that one could make, to be determined in the Lord and for the Lord. Even with that thought in mind the context of the passage points out that will not always be the easy way. In verse 3 above we find that Paul was in weakness, in fear, and in trembling many times. Yet Paul was determined in his walk and service for his Lord. Are we? Many would say that they are and yet when looking back at the past year the evidence of our daily lives may prove our words wrong. Paul not only said he was determined, he lived a determined life. Let us look back and examine our lives and see if we really are determined. Many will conclude that yes they are but many more will conclude that no they are not. No matter which camp one is in there is still the challenge of the New Year. Can we be determined for the Lord in 2012?
