December 21st, 2011 by Pastor SolleyLuke 2:18-24 18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. 21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. 22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; 23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)
24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.
Everything about the life of Jesus Christ was perfect before God. In Jesus Christ was the Law of Moses fulfilled. Everything about the life of Jesus Christ was perfect before God. I think of the role that Mary and Joseph had in that and the two chosen by God to be responsible for the Christ child. It was not Jesus that dictated He be brought to the temple, not Jesus that dictated that He be circumcised, not Jesus that brought the sacrifice of the Law and presented Himself before God. All of that was Mary and Joseph. We need more parents like that today, parents that will be given to the Lord and the Word of God. Parents who bring up their children according to the Bible. Sad to say those type of parents are far and few between even in our churches. More will tell their children about “Santa” this year than will tell them about Christ. Those who go to churches who called off services on Christmas this year because it is on Sunday will not protest or look for a church with doors open to attend. After all it is Christmas is the reasoning. Few will do what they know they should do according to the Bible. And these same ones complain that Christ has been taken out of Christmas today. Can’t they see they are helping the world take Christ out of Christmas and the church take Christ out as well?
