December 12th, 2011 by Pastor SolleyJohn 1:1-10 IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
What a blessed opportunity to be a witness for the Lord the Christmas season is. Most all of the world does acknowledge Christmas. I know our nation most certainly does. Most people think only of shopping or the office part but they still acknowledge Christmas. Now we can tell people of the Jesus, not a baby in a manger but a savior on the cross. We can bear witness of that light that was given into this dark world. We can give people the gospel message of Jesus Christ. Christmas is for all just as Jesus Christ died for all, a light is given to all men as our text states. But what are we doing as Christians with that light? Take time now to place tracts in the cards you send out to family and friends who are lost. When people wish you a Merry Christmas look for that opportunity to tell them why it can be a Merry Christmas. When you don’t go to the office part take the time to tell your co-workers why. Invite people out to church, to the special programs and services. Let us be a witness for the light at this Christmas time. The world needs Jesus, the lost need Jesus Christ more now than ever as the days draw to a close. The world does not know Him but we do so let us tell others of Jesus.
