Gen 9:11-17 11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. 12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: 13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. 14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: 15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. 17 God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

Every time I see a rainbow I am reminded of the faithfulness of God. God did not give the sign of the rainbow so that He would remember Noah and His promise but so Noah would remember the faithfulness of God. What God says He will do He does and what God says He will not do He will not do. When God says “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” He means He will save through the blood of Jesus Christ all who call upon Him. None will be refused. When God says He will “Never leave thee nor forsake thee” God means He will never leave the redeemed alone in this world or even in eternity. What a blessing that we are reminded of the faithfulness of God. The other day I was driving along and I noticed a double rainbow in the clouds. It again reminded me of just how faithful God is. So it is with every promise God makes. “Call upon me and I will answer” , “Seek and ye shall find” , “The steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord”, “He careth for you”. What an encouragement to seek out the promises of God in His Word and to know that our God is a faithful God.
