Psalm 112:1-4 Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, That delighteth greatly in his commandments. 2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: The generation of the upright shall be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: And his righteousness endureth for ever. 4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness:
He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

One thing that is clearly lacking today is thanksgiving and praise given to the Lord. There are many reasons for this one would think, a self serving society, the concept of the self worth of man and other things we are seeing today. But we find what I consider the root cause of a lack of praise and thanksgiving today in verse 1 of our text. Man no longer fears God. Among the lost and within the church today there is a lack of the fear of God. The lost have no fear of judgment and the saved have lost reverence for the Lord. When that happens the thoughts and heart of man are seldom giving to the Lord. If God doesn’t have the heart of man He will not have the praise of man. I was with a Christian yesterday that received what was a sure answer to prayer. Yet they never once thanked God for what had taken place. I did before as well as after I talked to them. I thanked the Lord for moving as He did, for opening doors, and for answering prayer. But I never once heard them thank the Lord for what had taken place. The reason perhaps because they were not even thinking of the Lord, just of self. No praise, no thanks, no fear. Stop today and consider what you should go before the throne of grace and give thanks for. Praise the Lord today.
