Isaiah 1:16-18 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; 17 Learn to do well; Seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, Judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. 18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

During our nursing home ministry on Monday the residents were given the opportunity to give testimonies. A gentleman stood up and in the form of a testimony stated something that he did not understand. You would say this man is a character as he likes to joke with us as we go in each month. But he said “I can’t understand how all this black goes up in the sky. Exhaust from cars, factories, dust and dirt all goes up in the sky. But then it comes back down in the winter white, the snow is pure and white. I can’t understand.” Most of the residents laughed as did we. But then he said something else. He said “It is just like my sin. It was black as it went up to Jesus and then He washed me white as snow. Jesus made me white as snow. I can’t understand how He could do that for me.”
Tears came to my eyes as I thought of what this man said. How is it possible that a sinner like me could be made white like snow? It is possible by the shed blood and power of Jesus Christ. Praise God He washed my sins away with his blood! Now every time I will see it snow it will remind me of my salvation in Jesus Christ and of that older man and his question. Isn’t Jesus wonderful?
