For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away as an eagle toward heaven. 6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, Neither desire thou his dainty meats: 7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee.
The Book of Proverbs is full of wise sayings. Our focus this morning is on verse 7. Here is another wise saying; “Watch your thoughts for they become your words. Choose your words for they become your actions.” The Bible tells us “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he”. A person cannot think evil thoughts all day and not become what he thinks upon. With that truth in mind let us consider what controls the minds and thoughts of most people today. It most certainly is not the Bible and the things of the Lord. People are given to the TV, the CD, the internet, Facebook, and so on. And you find nothing God honoring in those things. Facebook may not be as bad as the TV but it is gaining. And as people have their minds given to the filth of the world soon their words reflect that and actions are not far behind. No wonder so many are having so much trouble today. And it is not the world alone, it is the Christian as well. Let us try and make an effort to get our minds and our hearts settled on the Word of God. Are words and then our actions will follow.
