She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
Many times Christians get frustrated in prayer. We pray and pray and God doesn’t seem to answer. Could it be that we don’t know what we are asking? We pray and pray for a certain thing because we believe it will be best, that is what needs to be done or brought about, this would be best for us or another. All the while God knows what is best, God sees the beginning from the end, and it would be better if the thing we are praying for would be kept from us. So we think all the while God is not answering yet we know not what we ask. Praise God that He is a gracious God even keeping from us that which would not be good for us. The next time you think God is not listening to your prayers, God is not answering, consider that we may not know what we ask.
