Mark 10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. 16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

What is it to become as “A little child”? We find in our text that if one wants to enter into the kingdom of heaven they must be as “A little child”. So what is it to become as a little child? First of all one must be innocent as a little child to enter into the kingdom of heaven. What could be more innocent than a little child, than that baby held in the arms of a parent? To enter into heaven one must be innocent. But that presents a problem does it not? A problem because of the sin nature we are born with, a problem because of the actions of sin. We are not innocent as children yet we must be to enter into the kingdom of God. But think not of that little child, born into this world, born into sin as we all are, born with a sin nature. Yet they are innocent before God until they come of an age when they can know about sin, salvation and judgment. That baby that dies before birth is innocent before God, that baby that dies shortly after birth is innocent before God, that little child who dies before they can made a decision about Christ, before they are able to understand, is innocent before God. Innocent because they are covered by the mercy and grace of God. We must become as that child, that little child to enter the kingdom of God. How can we do that? We must come to Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sin and salvation. We must come to Christ in repentance and be saved. We must turn from sin and turn to Jesus Christ and then He will save us, then we become as that little child. Have you trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior from sin and death today? If not you need to, you need to become as a little child. But there is more to be found in this text concerning little children and our walk with the Lord. More on this tomorrow.
