Daily Devotions

Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. 23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. 24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
What riches do people hold onto today? What are you lacking that keeps you from giving all to Jesus Christ. The man in Luke 18 had all the outward works, was doing all that he thought the Law required. Yet we find that he was lacking. He loved his riches more than he loved Jesus and so he would not follow the Lord. Many today are lacking as well. We may not be holding onto money, but we hold onto something. It is our love of the TV, or video games, or sports, or our job, the new car we think we need, many hold onto something. Something in our life makes us lacking before God. Yes we may be saved and on the way to heaven, yet we still are lacking in our love and devotion to the Lord. The man in Luke 18 went away from Jesus sorrowing. I fear many today stand with Him sorrowing because they will not give all to Him What riches do people hod onto today?
