Let us begin to build our house this morning upon that solid foundation. First let us build a room of prayer. – Matthew 21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. I think there are many Christians today who have turned prayer into what the Pharisees turned the Temple into in the days of Christ. People rob themselves of the time they could be spending with God in prayer and rob God of the time He wants to spend with them. They replace prayer with the TV or video game or the PC or anything else that wish to do robbing God and cutting themselves off from precious communion and fellowship with the heavenly Father. But then when we perceive that we need something, or when some trial comes along we flee to God in desperate prayer. Don’t get me wrong, we need to pray at those times and God wants us to pray at those times. But prayer needs to be a daily exercise for the Christian. We should have that room of prayer in our spiritual house that we are used to being in, used to spending time in. I wonder how much time the average Christian spends in prayer each day? And they I wonder how much time one could spend in prayer if one would quit robbing God and self of that precious time in prayer?
