March 16th, 2011 by Pastor Solley2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2?And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3?But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. 4?And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5?And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
Here we find the Apostle Paul asking the church for prayer and for good reason. He was asking that he have the freedom to preach and the Word go unhindered into the hearts of men but he is also asking to be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men. As Paul went about he was opposed by many who would hinder the gospel just as there are many who would hinder the gospel today. Yet one thing we find as we study the life of Paul, he kept going in all circumstances, he kept going in all trials and persecutions, he kept going for the Lord. What was his secret? The answer is found in verse 1, people were praying for him, the church was praying for him. This is one reason,perhaps the biggest reason for the condition of the church today, a lack of praying saints. If I were to ask what you pray about, and honest answers were given, most would say they pray for themselves and their needs, for their families and there needs. But I wonder how long it has been that people just prayed for the work of the Lord, prayed for the church, prayed for the gospel message going out? If more people were in prayer for these things more people would be involved in these things, there would be a greater burden. We had over 10 out last night knocking on doors and were invited into a few homes, had the opportunity to share the gospel message. But there are so many more who need to hear.
