March 7th, 2011 by Pastor SolleyRom 8:1-3 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2?For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Here we have one of the “therefore” of Scriptures. When making a speech you use the word therefore to refer back to something already said, to make a point or application of something already given. The “therefore” of Romans 8:1 looks back to chapter 7. Romans 7 ends with the battle between the flesh and the Spirit within the Apostle Paul. In Rom 7:20 Paul acknowledges the sin still in him, inverse 24 Paul proclaims he is a wretched man. Yet Paul was a saved man at this point. Dwelling on the things in chapter 7 will bring one down into the depths of discouragement. Yet we find for the redeemed man there is n condemnation, that even though we still battle the flesh we can walk in the Spirit. We find that in spite of ourselves we stand in Christ Jesus before a Holy and righteous God. We go from discouragement to great joy in Christ. Today focus on Christ and you will begin to see the joy of the Lord and even more than that you will begin to experience victory over the flesh.
