Song of Sol 1:1-4 The song of songs, which is Solomon’s. 2? Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: For thy love is better than wine. 3? Because of the savour of thy good ointments Thy name is as ointment poured forth, Therefore do the virgins love thee. 4? Draw me, we will run after thee: The king hath brought me into his chambers: We will be glad and rejoice in thee, We will remember thy love more than wine: The upright love thee.
Here we see the plea of the bride in verse 4, that to be drawn by the bridegroom. Looking at Song of Solomon now as a type of the relationship between the Lord and Israel and then later as a type of Christ and the church i want to consider the drawing of God. It is a statement of fact that man needs to be drawn to God. Left on his own no man would even seek out God, left to his self after salvation no man would continue on with Christ. Some may disagree with that statement but look at the state of the world and the state of the church. Look at how many Christians put others and the world before Christ in their lives. So God must draw them, God must draw us. But how many ever pray something such as we see in this passage? How many seek the drawing of God? When was the last time you fell on your knees in prayer and ask the Lord to make you clkoser to Him. The answer to that question proves my point, man needs to be drawn to God. How then is God drawing you today? Is it through oppression of the world? Through decisions that you face to which you cannot find answers? Is it through illness or financial woes? God is drawing you and me today, in different ways and through different circumstances. But God is drawing us today. Let us not go on as if we can do things on our own, as if God doesn’t care, let us stop and ask the Lord to draw us, draw us closer to Him. How is God drawing you today?
