February 7th, 2011 by Pastor Solley1 Cor 9:24-27 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25?And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26?I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27?But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
The “Big Game” is over, does everyone know the Packers won? All the fuss, all the millions of dollars, all the attention, and it is all over. It doesn’t matter one litttle bit now to anyone who is not on those teams the outcome of that game. Yes people will brag about their team, but they are not on the team. In all reality it is over and it doesn’t matter. In our society today the god of football is worshiped by so many, churches closed their doors last night, many changed their services, and for in those that did not many decided to stay away so they could watch their team. Yet today it is over and it doesn’t matter. What about things that do? What about spiritual things, what about eternity, what about Christ? Does He, do those things matter more? Of course they do. Who took care of you through the night. Big Ben, the Packers, or the Lord? Who will provide for you today, take care of you tomorrow, provide a way of eternal life? I think we need to focus on more important things. The “Big Game” is over but not the most important game, not the most important race. Like Paul let us strive for more important things.
