December 27th, 2010 by Pastor SolleyJob 8:11-14 Can the rush grow up without mire? Can the flag grow without water? 12? Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, It withereth before any other herb. 13? So are the paths of all that forget God; And the hypocrite’s hope shall perish: 14? Whose hope shall be cut off, And whose trust shall be a spider’s web.
During his trial Job received little help from his friends and little truth as well. But here is something we ought to consider. “Can the rush grow up without mire? Can the flag grow without water”? Each one stands at the waters edge and each one grows because of that water. Take the water away and each is just a dry stalk. So it is with us and our relationship with the Lord dear Christian. We will not, cannot grow unless we are drinking of the Lord daily and constantly. Christians today live in such a way as to think they can come for a spiritual drink if you would one service a week, meet their obligation before God and then go about their way. What we have as a result is a bunch of dried up Christian good for little or nothing in this world. Many live today cut off from God. no God has not cast them away and never will, but they have moved on up the slope of the world and are no longer planted by the water. It is a weak church today, a dried up church and the fault is not the Lord’s. The fault is where the Christian stands. He chooses not to stand by the waters edge any longer, he has decided to climb up and see the world. But to do that he has had to move away from the Lord.
