Isaiah 41:8-10 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The seed of Abraham my friend. 9? Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called thee from the chief men thereof, And said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away. 10? Fear thou not; for I am with thee: Be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

The church is not Israel and Israel not the church but I think the church just as precious to God as Israel. After all Christ died for the church and lives for the church. So with many of the promises made to Israel we can make application to the church and the Christian today. As Israel was taken from the ends of the earth (Verse 9) so have we been chosen from the foundation of the world and so on. Isn’t it a blessing then to know that God will strengthen us, help us, and hold us up in our hour of need? That is the promise of verse 10 and I believe a Christian can claim those promises today. What a blessing to be held up in the right hand of almighty God. I think of this passage at this holiday season. Holidays are often hard on people, Satan works extra hard. Some are alone, some are experiencing a holiday without a loved one for the first time, some have family members away as we do and miss them, financial troubles, physical troubles all add to this. Holidays are often hard on many people. What a blessing then to know that we never face difficult times alone. Our God will strengthen us, will help us, will hold us up in His hand. Why? Because He loves us with an everlasting love and He is faithful. This time of year look more closely to Jesus, He will hold you up.
